Choosing the Right Cycling Bicycle is not so Simple
It can seem very hard to find a new bike when you have so many choices. Even for those people who are paid to ride, buying a new bike is hard. The fact of the matter is that getting a bike involves many different choices. Imagine the future: how safe, comfy and stylish do you need the bike to be. How far will you ride and where will you be riding? All the existing options make it hard to make a choice; this choice is made more difficult by all the emerging technologies. Opting for the correct bike for you is as easy as using these simple criteria.
You must make sure you get a bike that is the appropriate size for you. To do this, you will need to measure your inseam. To do this, simply run a measuring tape up the inside of your leg from the bottom of your foot to your groin. Ideally you should be able to place both feet on the ground while on your bike. If you can do this you need not worry about stopping in an emergency if your brakes malfunction. You will also need to consider which handlebars you want on your bike. There are plenty types of handlebars to choose from. Traditional handlebars that just go straight out are good for maneuvering over difficult terrain. These kinds of handlebars are also great in distributing your weight evenly. If you plan to use your bike for racing you will likely want to go with a different type of handlebar, such a handlebar is thinner and allows you to lean over the bike while you ride, this makes you more streamlined and allows you to cycle faster. For those people who rarely use their bikes you can get away with just selecting comfortable handlebars that can be stored away easily.
Be certain to leave adequate room between yourself and your bikes crossbar. When selecting a bike make sure you move the seat up slightly, to around a few inches above the height of the crossbar. Your feet should still comfortably rest on the ground. Different bikes will need differing clearance amounts. As an example, with a touring bike you will only require around 1". With a mountain bike however you will need some more, 3 inches should suffice. There are a lot of criteria to use when deciding which cycling bicycle is right for you. Will this be an activity that you enjoy daily, or will you only be taking your bicycle out on special occasions? Which height is most comfortable for you? Do you feel more at ease with your feet just above the ground as you sit on the seat, or would you rather that your feet sit flat when you are at rest? You will need to consider each of these things when choosing your bicycle..
